Walk in the great forest of Saint-Hubert

Updated: Oct 17, 2021

In this short article, we take you on the discovery of a small part of the great forest of Saint-Hubert through two routes during a half day.

The first takes us to the start of the Laneuville-au-Bois church. The start of the walk is quite steep but worth the effort because the first landscapes on the heights are simply splendid, taking you to the summit on the magnificent Cheslin viewpoint. The route then descends towards the Ourthe river to continue in the forest between Lavacherie and Laneuville-au-Bois. Count 15km and between 3 and 4 hours of walking.

The second proposed route starts around Mochamps, to descend to the Saint-Michel furnace car park, while passing through the game observation areas that are the Bilaude area or the Priesse tower. Terrible too! Count 8km and about 2 hours of walking.

We had the chance to travel these 2 routes during the winter, with a beautiful omnipresent white coat. It must be said that our Ardennes forests are even more beautiful with snow. What happiness! (PS: don't forget to bring a good well-deserved beer for the post-race or the post-hike 😁)
