Packraft on the Ourthe river from Nisramont

The packraft is great and even super cool! For those who are not familiar with this term, packraft designates an inflatable kayak. His practice has become more popular for several years on our Ardennes rivers.

The concept consists of running or walking through hills and valleys for about 10 miles, with everything in a small backpack weighing only 4kg with the paddles, and then to return to your starting point by paddling... The inflation of the kayak is relatively fast and there are single-seater models and even two-seaters models allowing you to take your sweatheart, your child, your dog or even your moutain bike (if you prefer biking than hiking) !

Our last getaway took us down the Ourthe, starting from Mâboge near La Roche-en-Ardenne, along the river to the crests of Hérou, then continuing through the crossing of the friendly little village of Ollômont, to finally land at the Nisramont dam, where we deployed the packcraft for the return crossing. Great, next test on the Semois river!

Here is the GPX route (to use with your watch or some apps like OpenRunner/Komoot/Cirkwi etc...) that I highly recommend you to download and use :
